Abia State has been confirmed as the host for the 2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Championship, scheduled from 11 to 21 September 2025.

Seventeen clubs are competing in this second-tier womens football league, aiming for promotion to the NWFL Premiership. They will be divided into four groups, with the top team from each group earning a place in the elite division for the 2025/2026 season.

Participants are expected to arrive in Abia State on 11 September, with the draw and pre-match briefings taking place the following day. Matches kick off on 13 September, and continue until 21 September, interspersed with rest days to help players recover.

All fixtures will be staged at Abiriba Stadium and Umuahia Township Stadium. Among the 17 registered clubs are Sunshine Queens FC, Osun Babes FC, Royal Queens FC, Pelican Stars FC, Ghetto Tigers FC, and others .
